A plethora of things happened this week. First, Ralph finally had a meaningful meeting. We finally discussed things like how horrid our shelters look and where to go when nature calls. I didn't get to get my word in until after Jack got in his little 'let's get the beast' rant. There was a lot of chaos. Once again, when I put in my two cents, Jack told me to shut up. We got into a heated argument. And, now, I think Ralph might be at his wit's end, and I had to calm him down.
The next night, Samneric ran down the mountain and claimed to have seen the beast the littluns won't stop whining about. I thought maybe if we stayed where we were, we'd have a better chance of survival, but, ignoramus Jack insisted we hunt. Another argument ensued, this time not just with me and Jack but with Ralph and Jack. Ralph ended up getting punched in the gut, and the excitement of the moment caused me to have an asthma attack. They left me on a log like a king with the task of babysitting in my hands. Swell. This is going to be a long month.
I understand what Piggy is going through at the moment. I know what it feels like to have an opinion. I also know what it feels like when no one will shut up and let class continue. If you looked at my current 4th period class, you'd understand why. It is infuriating.
"When you're done laughing perhaps we can get on with the meeting." Piggy is at his wit's end with the others. He used to scream at them to shut up because he had the conch. But, he doesn't have the energy to do that anymore. So, he is using this passive-aggressive technique.

Chapter Four
I forget how many days it has been as to our unfortunate misadventure. But, either way, it has gone almost unnoticed. The effects of dehydration are running their course on the little ones. As usual, I am seen as the village idiot due to my obesity. But, I think that Ralph is finally warming up to me. Today, I suggested that we make sundials for all on the island so that we can plan our meetings at a more precise and orderly fashion than we ever could with the conch. Ralph struck my idea down. But, I think he is finally warming up to me. As I digress, as we were on the island today, a ship came upon the misty horizon. Me and Ralph ran and tried to capture the ship's attention to the best of our ability to attract the ship's attention. When we started to fail, we suddenly remembered the smoke signals. To our dismay, as we tried to rely on the smoke signals, the fire burnt out. It seems Jack and his hunters want us to die out here. Well, the little hunting party came back with a pig, and it seemed the pig mattered more.
Ralph and I were equally disappointed with Jack's incompetence. At this point, however, I fear I may have put my foot in my mouth. I only am aware of this because when I joined Ralph in reprimanding Jack's behavior, Jack shoved me so hard my spectacle fell off and cracked on a stone. Now, blind as a bat, I was prepared to lay down the law on Jack. But, when I tried lecturing him on his behavior, he punched me square in the diaphragm. Later, at dinner, blind me was refused pork because "you didn't hunt" when Ralph and Simon refused to hunt as well. I swear sometimes I hope Jack meets an unfortunate fate.
I feel even worse for Piggy now. Not only is he the only voice of reason, but, now he's blind. And, he's being scapegoated out by Jack. Even Simon treats Piggy better than Jack does. And, Piggy is closest to second in command.
"You and your blood, Jack Merridew!" This quote is revealing of the slightly kind man Piggy is trying to become. He is one that believes more in farming and getting the food in a more civilized manner than to hunt wild game. He is not the only one tired of Jack's homocidmaniacal behavior. Pretty much every one who isn't a hunter is. But, Piggy is the boy who is more vocal about it.

Chapters 2 & 3
It has been a struggle since our stranding. Or, for me, at least. I can barely put my two cents in without someone telling me to shut up. We have two meetings a day every day to discuss what our little society needs to survive. Whoever holds the conch may speak. Or, at least, that's what I thought. You see, the whole tribe decided for god knows what reason that we needed a fire.We went and tried to light it manually. But, it wouldn't light. Then, a terrible thing happened. Instead of trying to light it with flint or kindling, they stole my glasses and made a fire with them. Now, in addition to being the proverbial village idiot due to my density, I am blind.
Livid about this new development, I decided to give a piece of my mind to Jack. But, he and all the other imbeciles on this island now tragically disregard the conch, with Ralph being the exception. If it weren't for Ralph, we'd be clucking like chickens right now. But, finally, after he and Jack posted their opinions, I went on a rant about how I feel about how I am being treated as a second class citizen. They seemed to listen, right up until the kid that reported the snake went missing. Then, I was yelled at because the little brats don't know how to hold still and state their names. I feel I just can't win. Jack and Ralph are arguing a lot. And, I feel soon that since no one will listen to me, we will all convert to anarchy.
I still maintain the feeling I have in the previous post. I feel Piggy is Albert Einstein in a room full of kindergarteners. Because I feel this way a lot, I completely understand his situation. But, as a person who wears glasses, I gotta say, I really feel bad about Piggy's glasses. If I were in a similar predicament, I would be so angry that I'd be wearing Jack as my new shoe. I'm surprised Jack hasn't got hit yet.
"Like a pack of kids!" This quote is important because the kids vowed to act like adults on the island. They vowed to have order. But, now, they don't. And, only Piggy sees it.

Chapter One
May 5 1955-
It has been three days since my plane has come down in an unfortunate series of accidents similar to the demise of my parents. I have been fortunate enough to find myself an island in which I can live out my days and hopefully start out a utopian society free of prejudice, hate, and where physical prowess doesn't count for anything. As I sat at the beach, pondering my whereabouts, a pale, scrawny little thing washes ashore. We get to know each other in a short amount of time. I tell him I would rather not be called Piggy anymore as I have been in the past, however, it is clear we'll be rivals due to his severe laughing at my sorrows. It is clear Ralph, the fellow whom is with me at the moment is a larger idiot than I imagined at first. His father, apparently an army man, has a map of this land and will find us in a heartbeat, according to Ralph. However, I knew that due to the brevity of the explosion of the plane, there will be no rescuing of us.
As we are undoubtedly exploring the new island of our inhabitance, we find a conch. In much better physical condition than I, Ralph is the one instructed with the task of blowing into and on such a beautiful, music making object. The instant Ralph started blowing on the conch, children came running out of the bushes and the forests. One of the boys who comes out of the woods is a strapping young lad named Jack. The redhead seems like he is a nice lad, however, silence, sanity, and intelligence do not seem to be virtues in Jack's possession. There is an exploration party, but, Jack forbids me to join on account of my obesity. After an hour or so, (and a failed hunting attempt by Jack), they return and announce we are indeed on an island. Later, we have a meeting and, it is decided by a majority that Ralph should be leader. I try to get some words in, but, every time I try to get a word in, I am told to shut up by Jack (frankly, I wish he'd died in the plane crash along with the pilot and crew). The only time I can get a word in is to announce that a small boy claims to have seen an anaconda. I loathe my state of being. No one respects my intelligence and empathy as Peter. Everyone just knows me as the gluttonous Piggy!
Golding's theory of everyone being inherently evil is only part of what's at play here. I can say Piggy is the most relatable character in this book because he has three factors that I can relate to more than the others. The first is he is a nice guy in glasses. The second he is an intelligent kid surround by idiots, jerks, and people that were born without the ability to shut up. I experience that every day (in some cases they're either both or all three). The third is he hates what he is called and wishes he was called something else.
"What's yer name?" This quote proves that Piggy is at least trying to have a social attachment to the other children. He might like them. He might hate them. But, at least he'll know their names.
